Natalie Hinahara is a Wisconsin-born and -raised painter, printmaker, & muralist living in Viroqua, WI.

Her work is informed by the landscapes of the Midwest, and more specifically, the Great Lakes and Driftless Regions. She is equal parts painter and printmaker, which are distinct but complementary elements in her practice. Within printmaking, she pays homage to specific plants and natural places through reduction block prints and multi-layered screen prints. She finds more fluidity within her painting practice to push into ambiguous territory around themes of social and environmental injustice.

She enjoys sharing her passion for printmaking through teaching screen and block printing classes at Youth Initative High School and occasional local workshops.

Since 2018, she has been striving to bring her studio practice into public spaces by becoming involved in local mural projects. In January 2019, she helped to organize and participate in a collaborative mural project on the UW-Madison campus. The summer of 2019 holds the hopeful promise of additional local mural projects.
